Abstract :
A new type of double pulse generator is developed to generate independent two pulses with short interval. The system consists of a step-up transformer circuit and a discharge switch free Blumlein pulse forming line, both of which utilizes amorphous metallic cores. At pulse interval Td ≥ 500 µs (equivalent rep-rate 2 kHz), the system was successfully operated with good reproducibility and produces two pulses of 400 kV with efficiency of 65 %. To enhance the recovery of hydrogen switch, a magnetic switch is used, which enables the operation at Td ≥ 39 µs (fr = 26 kHz).
