Abstract :
The report studies the destruction and splitting of hard-rocks by pulsed e-beam and by electric gas spark discharge. It demonstrates that intense repetitive electron beam of sub-microsecond duration destructs the surface effectively for a variety of rocks. An optimum beam density has been obtained for several beam energies to achieve the minimum specific destruction energy capacity. In electric breakdown of hard-rocks material surface insulation and special electrode geometry were used in the blast region to avoid a surface breakdown between electrodes and to produce volume breakdown. The results obtained lead to acquiring of non-expensive technique of excavation of rocks in mining and in destruction and utilization of unusable concrete blocks.
