Abstract :
A network has its own peculiar Quality-Of-Service (QoS) class and QoS mechanism. So, to support end-to-end QoS in heterogeneous network, a certain unified control is needed as Bandwidth Broker (BB) and QoS management servers (such as RACF). However, it causes scalability problem as management complexity and implementation difficulty. There is a strong need to provide simple QoS interoperability so we present a QoS Class Mapping (QCM) framework: proper building blocks should be defined such as parameter-to-class mapping and class-to-class mapping for selecting the best-suitable QoS class over heterogeneous network. And we improve the framework to provide not only perfect QoS class mapping but also promising fine-granular QoS services in the circumstance. This framework employs Application Service Map (ASM). As Location Information (LI) of ASM represents absolute QoS requirements, it can be globally used and provide the flawless QoS class mapping. As an experimental result, we demonstrate the performance of the proposed framework for supporting QoS over heterogeneous network. In addition this experimental result shows the proposed framework can support fine granular service.
