Abstract :
A new power transformer fault diagnosis system (PTFDS) is proposed. The PTFDS consists of three types of sensors including thermal, magnetic, and gas sensors as well as a central system for converting the sensors´ signals to digital values and determine the fault type. This system is currently registered as a patent with number of 71467 in Iran. Moreover, a new approach for incipient fault diagnosis of transformers in wind farms using the proposed PTFDS devices connected to a central server is presented. Verification of the proposed PTFDS and the fault diagnosis algorithm has been carried out using practical experiments in a wind farm. The obtained results reveal the effectiveness of the proposed PTFDS and the fault diagnosis algorithm.
