Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel Continuously Adjustable Magnetic-valve Controllable Reactor (CAMCR), which can avoid the control “blind area” of conventional Magnetic-valve Controllable Reactor (MCR) and reduce the output harmonics of MCR. There are circular truncated cones in the iron cores of CAMCR. Each section of core saturates at different time and creates current harmonics in different phases, i.e. the harmonics are phase shifted each other and the total harmonics are reduced greatly. The mathematical model of magnetization curve and current harmonics distribution are deduced according to its geometry characteristics. The simulation results of magnetic circuit and electrocircuit are coincident with the theoretical analysis, which demonstrate that the mathematical model is correct. There is no any control “blind area” in CAMCR and the current harmonics content is lower than conventional MCR.
