Abstract
Current regulation is a fundamental building block for fast torque response motor drives. It is extremely important for high-speed motor drives, due to their high speed operating ranges. At high-speed operation, significant coupling components exist in the plant model. This paper presents a thorough investigation on current regulation approaches for RL load in complex vector notation. It analyzes theoretical foundation of various current regulators; advantages and disadvantages of those approaches are pointed out. This paper provides simulated and experimental results, and it also discusses factors that will be used to explain different parameter settings between simulation and conducted experiments. A compensation approach is provided for practical implementation of current regulation for lab test.
