Abstract :
To avoid the limitation of manipulation devices design and arrangement in cockpit by current design methods, a rapid layout model of manipulation devices has been built based on the layout guidelines of manipulation devices and the pilot joint model which is human centred. The model is capable of calculating the relative position of the design eye position (DEP), neutral seat reference point (NSRP) and manipulation devices quickly, which enables a rapid arrangement of manipulation devices. The model is verificated by a simple layout of manipulation devices in an aircraft through CATIA platform. The results show that the model can avoid complex iterative process during designing, shorten design cycle and save expense.
