Abstract :
The editor´s insights on the concluded Grand Challenges in Biomedical Engineering Conference organized by the IEEE LIfe Sciences Initiative. Presentations that talked about electrical interfaces such as the brain-computer interface, applied neural control systems, and deep-brain electrical stimulation are also mentioned. As for the editor, his grand challenge for biomedical engineering is to overcome the limitations of interfacing biomedical engineering devices with living systems. Also in his opinion, the most important aspect of addressing this challenge will be keeping an open mind and thinking beyond the current limits of one´s discipline.
