Mobilized patient record management systems

This paper presents a research on newly developed mobile technologies in medical information systems. A mobile healthcare management system was developed by including automated laboratory test order, handwriting recognition module, anatomical sketching, and global positioning system (GPS) features. The primary purpose of this study is to help reducing medical errors due to problems in data transferring, that currently paper-based system are prone to, by collecting all necessary information in one single place. The application was designed with the actual users´ participation, and their preferences were identified for better interaction. It also reveals significant key points for any medical information technology system to have such a fully interactive database and user-centered graphical interface design.
