Abstract :
A Panorama Parking Assistant System(PPAS) based on image splicing is proposed in this paper. Four fisheye cameras are mounted in the vehicle and four channels of images would be integrated as a top view picture on vehicle´s display. The system provides a panorama view around the vehicle which could not only make parking an easy task but also avoid the serious parking accidents towards children. Besides the design of embedded system, the main work of this paper includes camera calibration and image splicing. The experimental results obtained both in PC and embedded system in the experiment car show that the calibration method for fisheye image distortion correction and image splicing are effective with available accuracy, it meets the system requirements and it is practical for commercial use.
