Abstract :
The high speed Internet causes an increment of network traffics and network applications which used voice, data, and multimedia services. Among this, multicast video streaming service is increasing rapidly all over the world. However, a network infrastructure cannot support video traffics sufficiently. Therefore, this study suggested a bandwidth reservation mechanism using Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP). We referenced a Multiple Stream Reservation Protocol (MSRP) which is bandwidth reservation protocol in IEEE 802.1AVB and implemented similar reservation mechanism, but our own mechanism improved for bandwidth reservation fail situations which is not handling in original MSRP, so it is more stable for multicast video streaming service. We examined our suggestion with network simulator, OPNET, and compared an end-to-end delay with original multicast video streaming service and an end-to-end delay with using our bandwidth reservation
