Abstract :
Micro-finned tubes are widely used in air-conditioners to improve the performance. A test apparatus for their heat transfer characteristics is helpful for the development of new finned tube. In this paper such an apparatus was set up to carry out evaporation and condensation test. The refrigerant used was R410A. Automatic control which was designed to guarantee stable operation could be realized for a wide range of test conditions. Namely, the diameter of the tested tube varied from 5mm to 7mm, and the mass flow velocity varied from 100 to 400kg/m2s. Friendly human-machine interface was also established so that heat transfer coefficient could be obtained when stable criteria were met. Sample curves were given for evaporation and condensation tests respectively.
