Resource allocation for wireless ad hoc networks with multi-rate multi-cast capability

Multicast sessions are expected to be an efficient communication scheme especially for multimedia applications in mobile ad hoc networks. In this paper, we propose a new resource allocation algorithm for wireless ad hoc networks with multi-rate multi-cast capability. We use a price-based approach to solve the multi-rate multi-cast problem such that the aggregate utility for all sessions is maximized. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm not only converges within short times, but also increases the average network throughput.
