Abstract :
A wideband adaptive delta modulator for digitalized video signal application is presented. The signal process algorithm in this adaptive delta modulator is an accumulative adding “1” or accumulative subtracting “1” bit. The accumulative adding “1” bit is chosen when three consecutive 1s occurs. If three consecutive 0s appears, then accumulative subtracting “1” is chosen. Otherwise, step size □ unchanged. That is when three consecutive 1s or 0s of digitally encoded signal occur, the digital to analog converter gives the step size changed adaptively, otherwise it is unchanged. The proposed algorithm has the features of quite catching the transitions of signal, high stability, and simplified circuit implementation. Theses make high adaptive efficiency and suitable for video digital encoding applications.
