Abstract :
The correct functioning of critical infrastructures is crucial for modern society. These systems provide the backbone to our everyday lives and, therefore, securing and protecting them is a challenging yet vital issue. This project studies the vulnerabilities and protection challenges these systems present, and proposes a solution using a collaborative multi-user game-based visualisation interface. This project proposes a tool that models and represents a complex system in an easy-to-understand, comprehensive manner, enabling all those involved in monitoring the system to detect problems and threats, and make better informed security decisions. The game-like interface allows a real-time coordinated response from all the different stakeholders involved in controlling and protecting the system. The interface will resemble a massively-multiplayer online game (MMOG), in which different users with different roles and access levels will have a personalised view of the system and react to security warnings in order to protect the system.
