Abstract
Finite element method together with the spectral representation provide efficient tools for calculation of effective permittivity of 2-component samples. Using this method several samples very studied. It was shown that the grainy samples are well described by the rational functions with few geometric modes, while the samples with strongly irregular clusters are better described by the Lichtenecker-type expressions.
