  • Abstract
    This paper proposes an image transmission method based on the compression cost estimation for solving the problems of communication overloading in the wireless multimedia sensor networks. Firstly, according to the relative information entropy among the multimedia sensors, correlation comprehensive degrees of the nodes have been obtained. Then, before the image data are transmitted, energy consumption judgment strategy based on the compression cost estimation is proposed. Finally, an energy efficient image transmission way is used by the judgment. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme can reduce the amount of image transmission effectively, ensure the energy consumption balance of the multimedia sensors in the network and extends the network´s lifetime.
