            Abstract :
One of the concepts of smart grid is to have direct communication from power utilities to communities with immediate response for critical electricity situation. Smart Energy Home Area Network (SE HAN) devices having the ability to response for demands from power utilities are important parts of the smart grid network. ZigBee Smart Energy Profile (SEP) is widely used for trial and pilot programs but it is in the process of evolving into newer specification for final deployment to cater a wider scope of technologies together with the support of IPV6. There is a great deal of work for the industry to support the rapid change of profiles within a short period of time. This paper proposes a scalable architecture of embedded software design for SE HAN devices that can help the reuse of software to cope with the fast evolution of SEP definition.
