Abstract :
Plasma neck development dynamics investigation was carried out on Module A5-1 installation. operated in a low-Ohm output impedance (0.04 Ohm, Imax=1.3 MA, τ=100 ns) regime. The plasma was created as result of an electrical breakdown of the cylindrical agar-agar fibers with 2–3 mm in diameter and 0.1–0.01 g/m3 density. Plasma point with 100 mkm size was formed at the monent near the current peak in a region where the neck with < 1 mm in diameter was done beforehand. The dense hot plasma temperature and density were Te > 1 keV, ne > 1022 cm−3 accordingly and the life time of the plasma point did not surpass 5 ns. In some experiments the formation of the hot plasma points were observed. as a result of breakdown along the dielectric fiber or successive compressions.
