Abstract :
The energy transfer of the relativistic electron beam (350 kV, 30 kA, 75 ns) into the intermediate dense plasma (np <5.10−21m−3) has been studied in propagating and reflecting beam regimes at relatively short REBEX device. The performed 2µ dimensional calculation enables to estimate the conditions of the minil1111m velocity spread of the injected beam. In the case of beam injection with reduced velocity spread the saddle-like form of the plasma diamagnetism z-profile and simultaneous considerable increase of energy transfer rate has been observed, if the most beam electrons are reflected back into the plasma by virtual cathode created at the one end of the plasma column.
