Abstract :
Ka-spectroscopy provides a tool to determine the state of plasma created by interaction of the ion beam with matter. The satellites are generated due to the change in charge screening when electrons are removed from the L-shell. Fluorine having electrons only in K and L shells is an obvious choice to produce Ka-satellite lines even at moderate temperatures. However, Fluorine Ka-radiation has large attenuation coefficients in the windows and buffer gas. An alternate substance at the temperatures expected in the KALIF produced plasma is Sodium. In this paper we present calculations for Ka-spectroscopy for Fluorine and Sodium and show that at temperatures expected in KALIF-produced plasma these materials can be successfully used as temperature diagnostic materials.
