  • Abstract
To determine erosion rates of divertor materials under plasma disruption conditions an intense proton beam with particles energy 10–30 ke V, power density at a target 10 MW/cm2 and pulse duration more than 10µs is needed Such a beam can be obtained in the facility consisting of two main parts: a vacuum diode for a beam generation and a focusing channel for its transportation and focusing at a target. As a first version of the protons source design an adsorbate anode was chosen because of its simplicity and small divergence of a proton beam. A multipoint explosive emission cathode is used as a cathode part of a diode. Beam focusing to the needed cross section is provided by means of combination of ballistic focusing at a first stage and magnetic compression at a second one. The results of calculations and experimental investigations aimed at the creation of such a facility are given in the paper.
