Abstract :
Recent experiments in the relativistic klystron amplifier (RKA) indicate that the frequency and efficiency of current modulation are monochromatic and almost 100 percent in appropriate system parameters. The microwave power from present RKA is 25 GW at the operating frequency of 1.4 GHz. A high-power high-frequency klystron amplifier has inherent problems due to reduced cavity size, including electron emission and ac beam loading at the gap opening of cavities. To minimize these problems, we propose various advanced-concept klystrons.
