Abstract :
Gerard O´Neill´s satellite solar power studies are extended to laser links and elliptic orbits. Italian Italsat atmospheric attenuation measurements are used to estimate worldwide cloud statistics. Cloud attenuation is estimated with the aid of Chu and Hogg´s classic laser attenuation studies. Ten micron attenuation maps are emphasized for satellite-ground links: Canadian ground sites are seen to be favored, along with the Rocky Mountains and Scandinavia.
