Abstract :
The main goal of this paper is to develop a model of the processes that lead to the final turbulent state of the pinch. In this state the implosive pressure due to the current equals the counterpressure of the turbulent components of the magnetic field Br, Bθ and Bz and velocity vr, Vθ, V[inz} within the pinch. Thin loops of toroidal magnetic field are created at the pinch surface due to the Rayleigh-Taylor instability which as they collapse into the plasma are distorted and tangled by the turbulent plasma motion into complicated shapes.
