Abstract :
Various diagnostic tools were employed to study and to optimize the extent of. space charge neutralization in the pulsed intense proton beam facility PROF A. (see papers to this conference [1,2]), comprising Langmuir probes, capacitive probes and a novel type of three electrode collector. The latter does not only allow to measure ion and electron beam current densities in a high magn. field environment, but also to deduce the density spectrum of the beam. electrons. Appropriate operating conditions were identified to attain complete space charge neutralisation.
