Abstract
Gas insulated busbar (GIB) temperature rise problem is a major subject in the field of GIB reliability analyses. Temperature rise tests which can hardly be carried out in power system are indispensable in temperature rise research. Tests based on prototype are usually time consuming and costly. In this paper, scaling method is applied in GIB temperature rise tests. Scaling relationships are derived based on electromagnetic-thermal field governing equations and boundary conditions of temperature rise system. Accurate scaling method is discussed with all the scaling relationships satisfied, and further approximate scaling method is proposed considering availability and veracity. Numerical validations including steady and transient analysis of the approximate scale model are presented. All of the analyses demonstrate the practicability and exactness of the scaling method.
