Abstract :
Driver support systems like a Rear Obstacle Warning System have been developed, which support cognitive load in the direction where drivers do not focus on usual driving operation. Malfunction and failure may occur in such systems. These errors may cause distrust, which leads to disuses of the system. Very low error rate may lead to driver´s overtrust, in which the driver depends on excessively. In this paper, we investigate influence of driver´s trust in the ROWS on the driving behavior as a fundamental study aiming at detecting overtrust and distrust. Therefore, we investigate the driving behavior by using a driving simulator with different error rate conditions where driver´s trust on the system is very high and very low.
