Abstract :
It was explored how one moves a mouse pointer during the search task by investigated the relationship between the mouse trajectory and the corresponding eye movement. The age was adopted as an experimental factor, and explored whether age factor leads to different characteristics of utilizing mouse in Web search tasks. As for young adults, it is evident from Fig.3 that the task completion time, the fixation duration, and the frequency of fixation differed significantly between conditions with and without a mouse. Such a tendency was not observed at all for older adults. The difference of utilization of a mouse between young and older adults was observed in the range of this study.
