Abstract :
Laser rangefinder is a simple technique used to obtain three-dimensional information by calculating the deformation of a laser point (or a laser line) projected on the surface of a measured object. We already proposed a laser rangefinder applicable to specular object, which consist of laser projector, lens, half-mirror, and two image sensors. It is shown that the accuracy of the rangefinder is sensitive to misalignment of these parts, however, conventional camera calibration methods cannot correct the misalignment of this rangefinder. To overcome this problem, we proposed a novel laser rangefinder calibration method by using of Genetic Algorithm (GA).
