Abstract :
The systematic economic issue was analyzed on towing the aircrafts to runway before takeoff. The fuel consumption for airport tractors was estimated while the jet fuel consumption was calculated when taxiing out. Then the fuel expenditure was computed on a special designed algorithm focusing on the comparison between aircraft and tractor. The result reviewed that the benefit is big when towing out aircraft instead taxing out. It will lead to cost reduction, revenue and payload increasing, as well as increasing the aircraft utility and reducing the operation time. It also results in the reduction of pilots´ working time while queuing before takeoff during the peak time. It indicates that the towing taxiing may cut down the emitting on airports. The selection for aircraft tractors was suggested finally.
