Abstract
Conventional 2D definition of Stokes vector can introduce ambiguity for polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (SAR) image exploitation, multi-static, multi-platform and/or scene-centric applications. To address this, extension of the Stokes vector analytic descriptions to 3D is explored and presented. Transformed 3D Stokes vector can be properly re-gauged to conventional 2D vector for 2D exploitation.
