Abstract
This paper presents our Green Performance Indicator Framework (GPIF) for operators to monitor the operational energy efficiency of Data Centers (DC/DCs). Therefore we analyze DC architecture and optimization of system interrelations, and review energy-efficiency metrics through the application of requirements and selection criteria. Based on the findings, our GPIF integrates Information Technology (IT) and ancillary site infrastructure perspectives on energy-performance and resources usage, and provides metrics on multiple levels of aggregation. Application of the GPIF will foster energy efficiency of DC operation through increased transparency.
