Abstract :
The European regulation on standby under the Ecodesign Directive EuP/ErP is well progressed with one implementing measure on standby and off-mode in force (1275/2008) and one measure in preparation for networked standby. However, there are still many open questions on standby, ranging from international harmonisation, via measurement standards to product scope and mode definitions. This paper will focus on the central scope and definition questions for the existing standby and off-mode regulation, and address the complications with adding network functionality to the scope of regulation.
