  • Abstract
The Future Internet architecture shall be advanced and flexible with regard to service requirements. The new paradigm, called as Software-Defined Networking (SDN) is an architecture for enabling rapid innovation while hiding much of the complexity on the networking design. SDN is a promising solution for network virtualization that decouples control from forwarding or data plane. SDN can be implemented by combining a programmable forwarding plane (e.g. by using OpenFlow Protocol) and virtualization platform/machines (VMs). In this paper, we evaluate the performance of SDN-based virtual network on different virtualization environment such as operating system based virtualization, hardware-assisted virtualization, and paravirtualization. Both performance, either virtual control plane or forwarding plane will be measured and analyzed.
