Abstract
Implementation of TCP in wireless network performance is unsatisfactory, because it always assume that the lack of acknowledgment from the recipient as a sign of congestion in the network. This conditions is one of the main issues in IEEE802.11-based ad-hoc networks which cause TCP unfairness. Exposed terminal is the main cause of this unfairness. TCP unfairness is perceived inequities in throughput by one or more streams of traffic flowing in ad-hoc wireless networks. In this paper we proposed a new algorithm to alleviate exposed terminal problem. The algorithm uses cross layer approach using interaction between MAC layer and network layer. Simulation using NS2 that shows that the proposed new algorithm improve fairness index.
