Abstract :
In this paper, we consider a relatively new small scale fading distribution, namely, the α-μ fading model. We derive expressions for the outage probability of dual branch selection combining (SC) and switch-and-stay combining (SSC) diversity in the presence of a single dominant independent co-channel interferer with a minimum desired signal power constraint considering this fading model. The obtained expressions for the outage probability are valid for integer values of the parameter μ and reduce to previously-obtained expressions for other channel models such as the Rayleigh as well as the Weibull as special cases. Numerical results for the obtained expressions are provided and the effect of fading severity for both the desired signal and the interferer is discussed.
