Abstract :
The present paper is concerned with the design specifications in terms of pole-locations in so-called “digital design,” as opposed to “digital redesign,” of control systems with the sampling-period explicitly expressed. Effects of the sampling-period on pole-locations of systems expressed in the delta operator are studied with particular reference to the design of a type-1 yawing-angle control system using a single-axis deflecting air-jet nozzle. Performances of the digital controller are studied through experiments, which show that the proposed digital controller gives performances comparable to continuous-time cases for reference command tracking using relatively large sampling periods, while the period should be as small as possible for disturbance rejection.
