Abstract :
This paper studies different magnetization process of low cost permanent magnets used for permanent magnet synchronous machines (PMSM). Due to the limited resource availability of the rare earth materials, it is required to have an alternate solution for magnets used for permanent magnet machines. The type of magnet should be readily available and low cost. This paper gives a thorough review of the existing low cost magnets, those are generally being use in the PMSM machine and their control using power electronics converters.
