Abstract
Traffic modeling is the foundation of traffic system research for its important significance of transportation optimization and decreasing cost of transportation. This article reviewed the development of traffic system modeling from the perspective of traffic modeling methodology, modeling objects and domains. After compartmentalization traffic modeling into traffic topology structure, traffic organization and schedule, traffic synthesis integration domains, we briefly depicted and reviewed their theory models. Finally, we discuss further research directions as well as the conclusions.
