Abstract :
This paper proposes low-cost automatic screw machine using a commercial manual electric screwdriver. The proposed system is designed for measuring torque and Z-axis force while fastening the screw using an electric screwdriver. Based on the spindle structure, magneto-resistive sensor is used for measuring the torque. The potentiometer on the shaft structure is used for measuring the force. The controller board collects all sensed data and sends them to PC. All sensed data is analyzed on the PC and success or failure is determined for screw fastener. The practicality of the proposed system is verified through extensive tests of collecting and analyzing data.
