Abstract
Proton beams with reasonable parameters are chosen here as energy drivers for fusion reactors whose output powers are 10 MW, 100 MW and 1000 MW. In view of stopping powers of proton beams, a model of cryogenic pellet structure is proposed and pellet gains are estimated by using a one-dimensional hydrodynamic code. The conditions to form a plasma channel and its stabilities are examined to propagate the ion beam over the distance of 5 m in the reactor.
