Abstract
"A 24 cm diameter magnetically insulated transmission line (MITL) has been utilized on GREC (Générateur de Radiographie Eclair) since 1976 to transport the 115 kj electrical pulse energy a distance of 2 meters from the large diameter output end of the accelerator. Nominal pulse parameters are approximately 7 MV, 0,2 MA, 80 ns. The line operated at peak fields of √2 MV/cm with efficient energy transport in the vacuum transmision line inferred fron radiation output measurements. We discuss the MITL and diode load design, experimental results including time resolved measurements of e-beam spot size and position, and continuing analyses of conceptual design changes to improve overall performance.
