Abstract
The self-consistent analysis shows that a powerful radiation beam in self-resonance with a gyrotropic intense electron beam can accelerate it efficiently to very high energy levels. Such an interaction has the potential of accelerating a 14.5 kA/cm2 electron beam from 25 MeV to 1 GeV in 30 m in a 100 kG magnetostatic field by a 22 TW/cm2 CO2 laser beam with efficiency 65%.
