  • Abstract
Theoretical problems associated with the operation of pulsed linear accelerators for intense ion beams have been studied. Numerical models for transverse and longitudinal beam control are discussed, along with methods for suppressing the destructive velocity bunching instabilities resulting from the use of loaded pulselines as voltage sources. Options are considered for the final lens to focus the output beam to fusion targets.
