Abstract
We discuss a proposal for an experiment on plasma wake field acceleration with an ultrahigh accelerating gradient. An intense driving beam from the BEP device will be used to excite a Langmuir wave in a dense plasma. We simulate the wave excitation numerically with plasma nonlinearity and three-dimensional effects taken into account. The simulations show that a 1 GeV/m accelerating gradient is attainable in our experiment.
