Abstract :
High-power microwave radiation was observed from interactions of an intense relativistic electron beam (IREB) with an unmagnetized axially decaying plasma, using a 5-channel microwave spectrometer covering a frequency range from 18 GHz to 40 GHz. The maximum plasma frequency in the drift tube was nearly equal to or less than 18 GHz. Microwave spectra, which were measured both radially and axially, were broad, and the powers had a tendency to increase with frequency.
