Abstract :
A high gain free electron laser (FEL) in the sub-millimeter region has been experimentally investigated. The electron beam was produced by 8 stage induction linac. In the experiment frequency and growth rate of the FEL were 300GHz and 16.5dB/m respectively, this growth rate agrees with the calculated one. Output power of the super-radiant FEL is an order of 100W. Optically pumped gas laser which produces the 600GHz of frequency with 100kW-1MW power has been developed and will be used as a FEL source for a high power 600GHz FEL.
