Abstract
This work presents a switched Model Predictive Control (MPC) formulation for Flying Capacitor Converters (FCC´s). The key idea of our proposal is to use standard Finite Control Set MPC (FCS-MPC) to lead the system to a region near to the desired reference, e.g. during reference changes. Once the system state is close to the reference, the optimal solution of Explicit MPC will be used to finally achieve the desired reference. The actuation of this local controller will be modulated using a PWM stage. As an illustrative example we apply this proposal to control an FCC. Thus, the output current control as well as the balancing of the floating voltages will be achieved with a zero steady state error and a constant switching frequency.
