Abstract
This paper focuses on the hazards caused by a geomagnetic storm and its effects on the space communications system which causes blackouts. The research is based on studies and observations of the previous cycles and their effects. The current cycle of the Sun which peaks around August 2012 will have disastrous effects on the grid. We thus hereby suggest an alternative model for communications during a CME event. Proposed model is developed at a very basic level and presents a plausible solution to the blackout scenario. Implementing technologies which exist and can be tailored to be used in this case is one major frame of interest.
